Our Story

Almost 50 years ago, a retired dentist had a dream to share truly excellent food with his community. His dream became the original Magleby’s restaurant.

For more than 20 years, David “Doc” Parkinson and his wife, Lenora, created and served staples like their famous parmesan breadsticks and chocolate cake to hundreds of thousands of customers.

In 2008, their son, Richard Parkinson, launched Magleby’s Weddings and Catering to bring Magleby’s favorites to events across Utah.

A Lasting Legacy

In 2023, David and Danielle Doty bought Magleby’s from the Parkinson family. Originally working in the financial industry, David left Wall Street to pursue his passion of building and growing small businesses.

Today, through their company Kensington Asset Management, David and Danielle are committed to keeping Magleby’s—and other staples of the Utah food scene—family-centered and local.
